Steelers Sights & Sounds: First Look at Jack Sawyer; Tryouts Impress

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers had a heavy focus on defense during the 2025 NFL Draft, with five of their seven selections coming on the defensive side of the ball. First-round pick Derrick Harmon has obviously drawn a ton of attention, as has gigantic nose tackle Yahya Black, as that duo hopes to form the nucleus of the Steelers defensive line for years to come.
But the day three selections on the defense have comparatively flown under the radar. During the second day of Steelers rookie minicamp 2025 on Saturday, fourth-round rookie Jack Sawyer (33) showed off his skills on the defensive field in front of head coach Mike Tomlin.
Seventh-round picks Carson Bruener (44) and Donte Kent (34) and promising undrafted safety Sebastian Castro (29) also got in some work.
On the offensive field, tryout interior linemen Thomas Perry (55), Dom Serapiglia (57), Keith Ismael (53) and Ilm Manning (51) got some work in, while tight ends JJ Galbreath (87), DJ Thomas-Jones (48) and Tommy Smith (45) worked on fundamentals with coach Andre Powell.
